Window & Polycarbonate Cleaning: What You Need to Know

25.06.2025

We were recently contacted to clean a polycarbonate roof that looked like it simply needed a good wash. From the outside, it seemed like a standard window and surface cleaning project.

But once we got started, we discovered that the polycarbonate panels were very old and worn out. Over time, tiny cracks had formed in the material, allowing moisture, dust, and even algae spores to get inside the structure of the panels.

We performed a gentle and thorough exterior cleaning, using professional tools and soft brushes. The surface looked much better afterwards — clean and refreshed. However, the interior of the polycarbonate remained cloudy and stained. That’s because the dirt was trapped inside the material, not just on the surface.

What You Can't Clean from Old Polycarbonate Panels

Even with professional cleaning, we couldn’t restore the original transparency. Why? Because the issue wasn't just surface-level — it was embedded within the material itself.

This is important to know if you’re thinking about polycarbonate window cleaning or roof panel cleaning. Cleaning services can remove dirt, algae, and build-up from the outside — but internal discoloration, moisture damage, or biological growth inside the panels cannot be washed away

Before You Order Window or Polycarbonate Roof Cleaning, Consider:

  • The age of the material – older polycarbonate becomes cloudy and brittle.
  • Existing damage – cracks or holes allow dirt and moisture inside.
  • Your expectations – cleaning will improve appearance, but not fully restore degraded materials.

At our company, we believe in honest communication and realistic results. If your polycarbonate structure is still in good condition, we’ll make it shine. But if the panels are severely aged or damaged, we’ll let you know what to expect.
